Moss Agate - Stone of the week

This stone, although classed as agate is unusual as the stone is not banded (it doesn’t appear stripy) unlike all other agates. The reason for it being called moss agate is that the way the stone forms the green colour looks like moss within a milky white base.

It has been used throughout time as a link to the natural world and more specifically to help gardeners and people working in agriculture. It is said if you plant a moss agate into soil with our plants you will receive an abundant crop.

Moss Agate Attributes:

· Helps in growth of plants and crops

· Zodiac stone for Virgo

· Attracts wealth

· Draws new business and gradual expansion for small businesses

· Stone of new beginnings

· Native Americans use it as a power stone where it has apparently been successful in balancing weather systems

· Used as a heart chakra stone

This stone, as it is a stone of new beginnings, it is sometimes called the “birthing stone”. It has been used by midwives as it is said to help relieve the pain of childbirth and help to ensure a good birth. So if you know a Mum to be and you are trying to think of an original gift to give them then maybe some Moss Agate would be useful and unique.

Best wishes
